Of all the Christmas-time candies, I’ve got a super love affair with homemade fudge. It’s one of those sweets I start thinking about when planning my trip down South to my grandmother’s for the holidays.
My grandmother always has enough fudge for the entire family to gorge themselves, if not the entire neighborhood. Recycled cookie cans are filled, crystal candy dishes and wherever else a sweet tooth might possibly recline during the days surrounding Christmas.
This year, I wanted to share that glorious gooey chocolate treat with my friends before heading home for the holidays – and my grandmother’s recipe was the one I chose to share.
Fabulously Flawless Fudge
Line and 8- or 9-inch pan with parchment or foil.
Melt your chocolate chips with sweetened condensed milk and salt in heavy saucepan.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, shot of whiskey or other liqueurs of your choice or even pecans or walnuts.
Spread evenly in prepared pan and chill for two hours or until firm.
Remove from pan by lifting edges of your parchment or foil.
Peel away the paper and cut into squares.
Store in an airtight container
