Earth Day is coming this Sunday, April 22 and the Alamo Ritz is teaming up with Tugg, Inc. to present a special showing of One Day On Earth. The film was shot on October 10, 2010 in every country around the world. It features images of joy such as birthdays and weddings as well as the pains of poverty and homelessness.

Tugg, Inc was founded just over two years ago by Pablo Gonzalez and Nicolas Gonda, two Austin locals who saw inefficiencies in the way films were reaching audiences. With Nicolas’s background in film and Pablo’s experience in marketing and technology development, the duo was able to come up with a more effective way of bringing communities together through theater.

After being approached by the filmmakers behind One Day On Earth, Pablo and Nicolas reached out to the Alamo Drafthouse to bring the film to Austin. As two entities who both cherish film and seek new ways to innovate the experience, Alamo and Tugg agreed this was the perfect opportunity to bring this film to the community.

Pablo says the film intends to “showcase how everyone is connected” by showing “the lives of hundreds of people” around the globe. It features scenes that everyone can identify with while showing how much we all have in common. Tugg film showings are usually opened by an introduction and followed by a question and answer section in the hopes of starting a conversation within the community.

One Day On Earth will be showing this Sunday at 4:00pm at the Alamo Ritz theather. Tickets are currently on sale at the Tugg website with proceeds going to support screenings in the developing world.
