(KNVA) - Congratulations to Kendall Beard, The New CW Austin Star!

Kendall Beard is a spunky 25-year-old entertainer from Lufkin, Texas.

She found her passion for music at a young age and quickly began performing for crowds all over Texas.

"My parents would pick me up from school and we would travel all weekend to different county fairs and country oprys and we would return just in time to be back at school Monday morning."

Kendall found school to be challenging due to her struggles with dyslexia. She is now a proud advocate for students with dyslexia. She hopes to bring greater awareness to this learning disability and serve as a role model.

After completing high school, Kendall attended the University of Texas and graduated with a degree in communications. She quickly moved to Los Angeles to pursue her singing career. In 2007 she made her first appearance on network television on American Idol Season 8 where she made it to the semi-finals. This experience only fueled her drive to be an entertainer.

Kendall newest role is as the Star for the CW Austin. She competed in a local casting event and won the opportunity to be the station spokesperson for the next year.

"I am extremely excited because this is exactly the type of opportunity I have been looking for."

Kendall will represent The CW Austin on promotional and commercial announcements, at events and on social networking sites. Her bubbly personality and love for entertaining will quickly make her a fan favorite.
