Childhood. A carefree time spent playing games, double-dog daring each other, and regularly administering cootie shots. Those were the days, right? Playing red rover, freeze tag, and of course, musical chairs. Well, I have great news for you; the CW has just ordered 10 episodes of Oh Sit! The premise of the show is like musical chairs on steroids. 20 contestants will compete to reach their seat before the live band stops playing their song. But in an added twist, many obstacles will stand between the participants and their chairs. Bonus incentives are given for completing multiple laps around the chairs and various challenges.
In other CW news, the network has ordered pilots for Arrow, a superhero show based on the DC character Green Arrow. The show is not expected to tie directly into Smallville (which featured Justin Hartley as Green Arrow) but it will be directed by David Nutter, who directed the Smallville pilot. Nutter has a reputation for directing pilots that get picked up by networks, including Smallville and Supernatural, among others.
The CW has also ordered a pilot for Beauty and the Beast which will be an update to the 80’s series of the same name. It’s been described as “a modern day romantic love story with a procedural twist” by Deadline.
The Carrie Diaries is also gaining attention. Based on the book series of the same name, the show will serve as a prequel to Sex and the City and follow Carrie Bradshaw as a high school senior. Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz is on board to help develop the show.
Expect episodes of Oh Sit! to begin airing later this year on the CW Austin and stay tuned to theCWAustin.com for more information!
